West Java Deputy Chief Of Police Make Sure Bahar Smith Has Received A Call For Examination

BANDUNG - West Java (Jabar) Deputy Police Chief Inspector General Eddy Sumitro Tambunan confirmed that Bahar Smith had received a summons regarding the investigation of the hate speech case handled by the West Java Police.

According to Eddy Sumitro, Bahar Smith is scheduled to be summoned for questioning on Monday, January 3, 2022. According to him, the summons was sent on Thursday morning.

"West Java Police investigators have sent a summons to Bahar Smith, and Bahar Smith immediately received it," said Eddy Sumitro at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate building of the West Java Police, in Bandung City, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 30.

Eddy said Bahar's investigation was related to allegations of violating Article 28 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph (2) of RI Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Indonesian Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

However, Inspector General Eddy has not mentioned in detail the elements of the violation involving Bahar Smith. He confirmed that he would continue to inform the development of the case.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Erdi A Chaniago, said that the Order for the Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) submitted to Bahar Smith was not related to his remarks which intersect with General Dudung Abdurachman.

"It has nothing to do with issues like that, but we are investigating from what was conveyed somewhere," said Erdi.

Erdi said the case involving Bahar had gone up to the investigation stage by submitting the SPDP directly to Bahar.
