Badui Residents Ready To Accept Tourists In New Year 2022

BANTEN - The Badui community in the interior of Lebak Regency, Banten Province is ready to accept tourists from outside the region who want to celebrate New Year's Eve 2022.

"We ask tourists to comply with health protocols to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 cluster," said Jaro Saija, a Badui Indigenous Community Elder who is also the Head of Kanekes Village, Lebak Regency, in Lebak, Antara, Thursday, December 30.

He said the Badui community was happy with the decline in pandemic cases, because tourists were able to enter the Badui customary area. Jaro Saija also hopes tourists can obey the rules of Badui customs by throwing garbage in the places provided by residents in Badui settlements.

The Badui community, he continued, has also re-opened various handicraft businesses ranging from woven fabrics, souvenirs, lomar headbands, koja bags, kampret clothes, Badui batik to bee honey drinks.

In addition, said Jaro, tourists can enjoy the natural beauty and eat durian fruit along with the arrival of the durian season in this area.

"We hope that the opening of tourists will be able to improve the economy of the Badui residents," he said.

Meanwhile, Amir, a Badui craftsman from Kadu Ketug, Lebak Regency, welcomed the reopening of the Badui area for tourists.

"We hope that the presence of tourists can contribute to the economy for the Badui by buying various traditional handicrafts," he said.
