East Java Police Chief Alerts Personnel To Monitor 163 Points To Prevent New Year's Eve Crowds

SURABAYA - A series of security measures to prevent crowds at the turn of New Year's Eve 2022 have been prepared by the East Java Regional Police. Later, joint TNI/Polri officers and East Java Forkopimda will focus on 163 security post points, and 50 service posts spread across the East Java region.

"Later, these personnel will focus on 163 security points to monitor preventing community movements and securing places that have the potential to become crowds," said East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta, in Surabaya, Thursday, December 30.

Nico insists there is no celebration of the turn of the new year's eve. People who travel are required to have the PeduliLindung application, to prove they have been vaccinated.

"People's movements are not allowed to carry out new year celebration activities. Next, people equip themselves with the PeduliLindung application, then a second vaccine and obey the health procedures," he said.

In addition, Nico continued, the East Java Police will also carry out a Justice Operation. Nico said members in the field would not be embarrassed, reminding the public in implementing health protocols (prokes).

"For the safety of this person, a Yustisi Operation will be carried out, reminding people to wear masks. Then if someone has not been vaccinated, we will vaccinate the second one," he said.

Meanwhile, for tourist attractions or roads that are feared to become crowd points, Nico stated that he would deploy his members to prevent such crowds.

"As for crowded places, tourist attractions, there will be members who work to secure the place so that there are no crowds," he said.

Therefore, Nico appealed to the public to celebrate the turn of the 2022 New Year's Eve at home. Because, at this time Indonesia is wary of COVID-19.

"We hope that the community and all stakeholders work together in carrying out the prokes first, don't travel if it's not important, you should stay at home with your family," he said.
