Jokowi Prepares Deputy Minister, Social Minister Risma: It's Up To The President To Be Filled Or Not

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini said the appointment of the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs (Wamensos) in the Ministry of Social Affairs structure he leads is the full authority of President Joko Widodo.

Risma said this was in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB).

"That's from the Menpan (Kemenpan-RB) the standard is like that. When I asked it was institutional, it must exist. But it's the President's authority to determine whether it exists," said Risma as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 29.

According to Risma, the addition of the Wamensos position is considered more efficient and will be good for service to the people.

Risma said that she had already named the candidate who would become Social Minister, although previously she admitted that she had no proposal.

However, Risma admitted that she did not care about who and from which circles the person who would be appointed to the position of Wamensos would be, because it was already under the authority of the President.

"Everything is like that for all the ministries. All the ministries are there, it's up to the President to fill it or not, that's how it is," he said.

Meanwhile, Risma said that her party was working on efficiency in the structure of the Ministry of Social Affairs, so that its work would be efficient.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 110 of 2021 concerning the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) on December 14, 2021.

In the Presidential Regulation it is stated that in leading the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Minister of Social Affairs can be assisted by a deputy minister in accordance with the appointment of the President.

The deputy minister is under and responsible to the minister and has the task of assisting the minister in leading the implementation of the Ministry of Social's duties.

Meanwhile, until now, the position of Deputy Minister of Social Affairs is still vacant. The Presidential Decree also abolished the Directorate General for Handling the Poor (PFM) of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Agency for Education, Research and Social Counseling (BPPPS).
