Police Examined 2 Women Who Throw Babies And Slapped Them In Bitung

MANADO - The PPA Unit Satreskrim Polres Bitung, North Sulawesi (Sulut) conducted an examination of three women suspected of committing acts of violence against a child under five years old (toddler).

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, said that the act of violence against a 1-year-old toddler was allegedly carried out by two women from Bitung City, each with the initials MK (20) and SM (19).

The violent and dangerous action was also videoed by one of the two women's friends, the woman with the initials IS (17), then uploaded it on social media and became lively in the community.

"The three of them are currently under investigation at the PPA Unit of the Bitung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, based on the Police Report Number LP/A/110/XII/2021/SPKT/Polres Bitung/Polda North Sulawesi, on December 27, 2021," said Abast, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

In the video, a 1-year-old toddler can be seen crying and then being picked up and carried by the MK woman. Furthermore, the SM woman took the toddler who was still crying from the MK's hands.

While holding the toddler, SM then performed a dangerous action where the toddler was thrown up, then laid on the bed, then SM slapped the toddler's left cheek and right cheek.

Instead of coaxing a crying toddler, SM even lifted and turned the toddler with his head facing the floor while his feet were up.

This 1 year old toddler has been being cared for by his brother SM, while these three people only came to visit his brother SM's house.

"The three of them are threatened with Article 80 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Amendments to the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, with a threat of 3 years in prison," he said.
