Ternate SAR Finds Fisherman Who Was Missing For 5 Days

TERNATE - Two fishermen from South Halmahera domiciled in Ternate City, who lost contact for five days while going to sea in Hiri Waters, Ternate City, were finally found safe.

The head of the Ternate Basarnas, Muhamad Arafah, said that on the fifth day at around 11.45 WIT, the SAR team along with potential SARs who were conducting a search operation received information that the two victims had been found in the waters of Siko Island at coordinates 46.3 NM South from LKP.

Arafah was quoted as saying by Antara, Tuesday, December 28, explaining that the two victims named Syaiful (51 years old) and Agus (10 years old) were found by local fishermen in a safe condition and then pulled to Bacan.

Furthermore, the Head of the Ternate Basarnas as SMC ordered the Bacan SAR Alert Unit Post to check the truth of the information at the victim's family residence.

From the results of checking and the Bacan SAR Alert Post, it was found that the victim had been found and was at his family's residence in a safe condition.

After the two victims were found safe, said Muhammad Arafag, the search and rescue operation was closed and all elements involved were returned to their respective units.

Previously, the two victims went to sea on December 23, 2021, but until the next day the victim had not returned, so the family was worried and reported it to the National Search and Rescue Agency to ask for SAR assistance.
