Odong-odong Train Overturned In Collision With A Grocery Store In Banyuwangi, 12 Children Were Injured

BANYUWANGI - The odong-odong train carrying a group of children in Gambiran, Banyuwangi, East Java, overturned and crashed into a grocery store. As a result, 12 children were injured and taken to the hospital.

Head of Gambiran Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Paulus said the odong-odong were driven by Parijo (59) from Wonosobo Village, Srono District, Banyuwangi.

The odong-odong contained as many as 50 people, including mothers and children from the Genteng and Gambiran sub-districts.

"They deliberately rent odong-odong. It's normal for children to go on vacation. They walk around from Kembiritan Village, Genteng District," said Iptu Paulus, December 28.

From the confession of the odong-odong driver, said Paulus, the accident occurred due to damage to the steering handlebar. Odong-odong was difficult to control and hit the grocery store which was right on the side of the road.

"A total of 12 children were injured and have been rushed to the hospital. The other victims have left the TKP (the crime scene). They have been picked up by their families. This case has been handled by the Gambiran Police. "said Iptu Paulus.
