JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) continues to coordinate with a number of parties to accelerate the settlement of gross human rights violations in the country. In addition, his party also encourages the establishment of a body that handles non-judicial mechanisms.

The coordination was carried out with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, Attorney General ST Burhanudin, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno, the Presidential Staff Office, to the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly.

"So that there is an acceleration of legal protection related to allegations of gross human rights violations, including seeking a specific agency or mechanism that takes care of non-judicial mechanisms," said Komnas HAM Chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik in an online presentation of Komnas HAM's Year End Notes, Tuesday, December 28. .

Taufan said this agency will be under the control of the President. It is hoped that the movement will be maximized so that the hopes of the victims and their families of gross human rights violations can be achieved.

"This body or committee is under the control of the President so that it will be effective in responding to the expectations of the victims and the victims' families in addition to the judicial steps that are continuously being pushed by the Attorney General," he stressed. In fact, the government is also reminded to invite the public, especially victims and families of victims of gross human rights violations, to be involved in the discussion.

"In connection with the discussion of the Bill on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Komnas HAM requests that it be carried out in a transparent, participatory, and accountable manner by inviting all components of society, especially the victims and their families of victims of gross human rights violations," he concluded.
