BANYUWANGI - Six alleged perpetrators of extortion with the mode of claiming to be members of the East Java Police Satnarkoba were arrested by the police. Four people claimed to be police officers NH, PR, DD, DN from Jember district. While the other two people with the initials SM and SD as negotiators, are residents of Banyuwangi, East Java.

Banyuwangi Police Chief AKBP Nasrun Pasaribu said the extortion case occurred on Monday, December 20. The victim is a farmer with the initials MJ (60) from Sidodadi Hamlet, Karetan Village, Purwoharjo, Banyuwangi.

"At that time MJ was visited by SM who was none other than part of the criminal group. MJ was invited to take nyabu, but he refused. Not long after, 3 people came claiming to be members of the East Java Police Satnarkoba and wanted to carry out raids," said AKBP Nasrun Monday, December 27 .

The three fake police then took MJ and SM by car, saying they would be taken to the East Java Police. In the car MJ's hands are tied and his eyes are blindfolded.

"It turned out that they were not taken to the East Java Regional Police but were taken to the Jember area, precisely in the Ambulu area," said AKBP Nasrun.

From there, the modus operandi of the perpetrators was executed. Victim MJ was frightened and then asked for Rp40 million so that the case could not be continued.

"This is where SM's role begins to play. He makes the victim more afraid and forces the victim to comply with the fake police request. Then SM contacts another perpetrator with the initials SD. Here SD is asked to persuade MJ's wife to give money and so that her husband can be released," he continued.

The victim's wife panicked, said Nasrun, then left to follow her husband by driving her private car. Arriving at the Ambulu area, the man with the initials SD took the car and pawned it.

"The pawned money totaled Rp. 5 million. SD then handed the money over to SM. It was as if the money was a facilitation. Even though the perpetrators were conspiring and conspired. After the money was given, the victim and his wife were allowed to go home," he said.

Arriving at the house, the victim then rushed to report the extortion case that happened to him to the Purwoharjo Police. It didn't take long, on Wednesday, December 22, the six perpetrators were arrested by the police

"The perpetrators have acknowledged the extortion action. Apart from the perpetrators, the police also secured other evidence in cash of Rp. 4 million, 1 car belonging to the victim, 5 units of cellphone belonging to the perpetrator. This case is still being investigated," said AKBP Nasrun.
