3 Days Searched, Body Of A Cianjur Santri Who Drowned In A River Finally Found

CIANJUR - The joint SAR team with the Cianjur Police Satpolir, West Java, finally found the body of Panji Grinaldi (12), a student from Ciranjang Subdistrict, Cianjur who was carried away by the river after three days of searching.

Head of the Cianjur Police Headquarters, AKP Heri Zanuari Prihadi said the victim was found early Friday morning, by residents who wanted to catch fish, in the waters of the Cirata Reservoir, precisely in Cikidangshadow Village, Mande District, dead.

"We received reports from residents that the victim had been found dead, so we together with the joint SAR team went straight to the location of the discovery, which is 5 kilometers from the first location, which was said to be missing," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 24.

The victim's body was immediately taken to the Cianjur Hospital for a post-mortem and then handed over to the family for burial in a public cemetery in his village. He added that the search had experienced problems because the weather for the last two days had rained heavily and the river current was very heavy.

"We are conducting a joint search with a joint SAR team consisting of TNI/Polri, Cianjur Fire Service, Cianjur BPBD, Scouts and local residents and the victim's family. Entering the third day of the search, the victim's body was finally found and the search was stopped," he said.

Previously, a student from the Ciranjang sub-district, Cianjur, was reported missing in the river while swimming with three friends. Until Tuesday night, joint officers from the Cianjur BPBD and the Bandung SAR Team were still trying to search.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur, Rudi Labis said that his party received a report that a student was reported missing by the river in Beber Village, Ciranjang Village, Ciranjang District, Tuesday afternoon.

"We immediately sent officers to the location and coordinated with the Bandung SAR Team and the Cianjur Police Satpolair, the victim was seen swimming with 3 friends, but suddenly the victim was dragged by a sudden large river current," he said.
