National Police Chief Visits Safari Park, Checks Health Protocols For Tourist Attractions

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo immediately checked the enforcement of health protocols (prokes) at tourist sites, one of which was the Indonesian Safari Park, Bogor, West Java.

The National Police Chief took the time to ensure that the implementation of the health procedures had been running strictly at Taman Safari Indonesia after reviewing the acceleration of vaccination throughout Indonesia.

This direct check is an effort to ensure that the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 holiday periods run safely accompanied by the implementation of strict health protocols. With the hope, there will be no spike in the rate of growth of positive cases of COVID-19 post-Christmas and New Year.

The National Police Chief checked the health protocols together with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. TNI Suharyanto and Kasum TNI Lt. Gen. Eko Margiyono.

After checking at tourist attractions, the former Banten Police Chief along with the Minister's entourage also reviewed preparations for Operation Candles at the security post and service post at the Gadog intersection post, West Java.

The Gadog intersection post is known to have an important task in dealing with the Christmas and New Year holidays. The reason is, the route is an access for the community to the Puncak area, which is known as one of the favorite tourist sites for residents to spend their holidays.

In his briefing at the Gadog intersection post, the National Police Chief asked his staff and related parties to ensure that they anticipate traffic jams and enforce public health procedures.

"Because right now there are two tasks, how to anticipate traffic jams so that people's mobility can run. But enforcement of health procedures is also a priority. Therefore, Mr. Kapolda (West Java) please make sure all members bring masks not only for themselves, but also prepare there are masks that can be distributed to the public," said Sigit in a written statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 23.

Sigit also asked to ensure that there are no crowds during the Christmas and New Year holidays. In addition, Sigit reminded TNI-Polri personnel to prepare all needs to deal with potential natural disasters that could occur at any time.

"Secondly, please complete this question for natural disasters. When suddenly there is a disaster problem, such as floods, landslides, and fallen trees, please check the completeness for quick steps for handling disasters and make sure they are ready for use," said Sigit.
