Police Arrest Prisoners Producing Drugs At Salemba Private Hospital

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sawah Besar Sector Police arrested a prisoner from Salemba Prison with the initials AU (42) and an ecstasy courier with the initials MW (36) for allegedly producing narcotics, psychotropic substances and illegal drugs (narcotics) in a private hospital room ( RS) Private AR.

"MW is the courier of the AU suspect. The Air Force is one of the Salemba prisoners in a drug case for possession of 15,000 ecstasy pills. He was jailed for 15 years and has only served two years of detention," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Heru Novianto in Jakarta, reported by Antara Wednesday, August 19.

Initially, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sawah Besar Police first arrested MW acting as a courier and obtained 30 ecstasy pills as evidence from MW.

In the investigation, it seems that the evidence points to the Air Force, which at that time was known to be narcotics convicts from Salemba Prison and was undergoing treatment in a private room at the AR private hospital for two months on a referral from Salemba prison.

The reason that AU was treated at the private AR hospital was because they often complained about stomach pain while in the Class II A Correctional Institution.

"The suspect (AU) argued that he was sick at the AR Hospital, but it turned out to be a factory. Based on information from the public, we conducted an investigation and raided the AU in the VVIP room," Heru said.

In the VVIP room occupied by the Air Force, the police found evidence in the form of ecstasy pills, ecstasy printing kits, dyes, a cell phone and an ecstasy printing device from powder to granules.

Investigations are still being carried out by the Sawah Besar Police and the Central Jakarta Metro Police, while the fact is that the Air Force obtained the raw materials for making ecstasy from online shopping site Bukalapak and has made a profit of IDR 140 million during two months of carrying out camouflage.

To be accountable for his actions, the suspect was charged under Article 113 paragraph (2) Sub Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 of Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics and Article 114 paragraph (2) Sub Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with the threat of 20 years in prison.
