National Police Chief Optimistic Target Of 70 Percent Vaccine Dose Two Achieved By The End Of The Year

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is optimistic that the 70 percent target for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination mandated by President Joko Widodo to the National Police can be achieved by the end of this year.

This belief was conveyed by General Sigit when reviewing mass vaccination with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi at the Aspiration Building KP3B Banten, Wednesday.

"This mass vaccination is being carried out in Banten Province to achieve the vaccination target by the end of the year as directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)," Sigit said as quoted in a press statement by the National Police Public Relations Division quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

This vaccination activity was held simultaneously in Banten Province, in the context of accelerating vaccination so that the community's communal immunity against COVID-19 was realized. The vaccine target from this activity is 22 thousand doses.

On this occasion, Sigit emphasized that apart from Banten Province, acceleration of vaccinations will continue to be carried out in all parts of Indonesia, in order to achieve the target of 70 percent of the second dose.

In addition to conducting a survey at the main location for mass vaccination, the former Banten Police Chief also took the time to say hello to vaccination activities in other places virtually.

In his briefing, Sigit emphasized to his staff to continue to maximize the available time to meet the vaccination target of 70 percent.

The National Police Chief also advised all parties to pick up the ball or play an active role in people who do not want to carry out vaccinations.

"Please make sure and pursue the target, Mr. President, of achieving 70 percent while there is still time," said Sogit.

According to Sigit, to maximize the achievement of the target of 70 percent of the second dose of vaccine, synergy and cooperation are needed between all parties, namely the TNI-Polri, regional governments, volunteers, community leaders, religious leaders, students and other elements of society.

"Of course the mayor, regent, Dandim, Danrem always synergize in the field because there is a need for cohesiveness regarding acceleration and preparing vaccinators," explained Sigit.

Sigit believes that cooperation or mutual assistance can achieve the maximum target for the second dose of vaccine.

"Of course, if everything is done together, of course, the achievement target will be more maximal. Thank you and hopefully the achievement can be 70 percent. Next week we will monitor again," he said.

The National Police Chief said that by accelerating vaccination and reaching the 70 percent target, it would affect Indonesia's economic growth.

In addition, Indonesia is also scheduled to hold national and international events, one of which is the G20 Presidency in 2022.

According to Sigit, currently Indonesia is able to prove that it can suppress the growth rate of COVID-19 and hold several national and international events in the midst of a pandemic by taking into account safety and health factors.

"This positive trend must be maintained. Thus, economic growth in Indonesia will continue to improve in the future," said Sigit explaining.

During the mass vaccination review, the National Police Chief together with the Minister also took the time to directly greet the people who were present to get the vaccine. They explained that being injected with a vaccine is safe and can provide immunity against the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus that causes COVID-19.

There were also points that held 72 mass vaccinations in 6 jurisdictions of the Banten Police, namely Serang City Police, Serang Police, Cilegon Police, Lebak Police, Pandeglang Police, and Tangerang Police.

A total of 22 thousand doses of Sinovac vaccine are prepared to vaccinate 20 thousand general public, 1,000 students, 500 educators and 500 elderly people. The total number of vaccinators deployed was 190 people, a combination of the Health Office, Police, TNI and volunteers.
