JAKARTA - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has completed a thorough evaluation of the series of accidents in the TransJakarta fleet. KNKT gave four recommendations to PT Transport Jakarta (TransJakarta) regarding safety evaluation.

Plt. Head of the KNKT Traffic and Road Transport Investigation Mode Sub-Committee (LLAJ), Ahmad Wildan, said the four evaluation recommendations were related to risk management in TransJakarta, fleet feasibility, crew eligibility, and route or track safety.

"After an in-depth and comprehensive evaluation and hearing input from TransJakarta management, we see that within the TransJakarta organizational structure it is necessary to add a special department to manage risk management and provide safety guarantees," said Ahmad Wildan in a press statement at the TransJakarta Office, Cawang, Jakarta, Wednesday. December 22, as quoted from Antara.

The KNKT saw that the TransJakarta organization already had a unit that handled the same thing. The problem is the unit is still small so it needs to be improved.

"The risk management unit has at least the same position as the directorate under the main director and is led by the director," he suggested.

In addition, TransJakarta needs to make improvements in terms of standard operating procedures used.

"There are many hazards and risks, so we need a procedure that is adaptive and responsive to the development and dynamics of the technology," he said.

Regarding the safety of the route or track, according to Wildan, the KNKT also recommends TransJakarta to map the risks related to the route traversed by TransJakarta buses.

"In this recommendation, we ask BPTJ to conduct a 'road hazard mapping' (RHM) on the TransJakarta route, both BRT, non-BRT, and on toll roads. Then this output will be a policy and implementation," said Wildan.

With the RHM, he said, it is hoped that later every TransJakarta stakeholder will know what to do to control these hazards and risks.

Finally, the driver's competence, KNKT has also discussed with TransJakarta management and professional certification bodies where there is a need for a review of the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) and professional competency schemes.

"Regarding driver competence, in 2022 TransJakarta will create an academy. It is planned to create an education and training mechanism to create drivers who have three rings of competence, namely related to knowledge, skills, and good attitude," he said.
