Dozens Of Traders In Yogyakarta Flower Market Diverted To Market

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Trade Office provides facilitation for traders along the west side of Jalan Pasar Kembang Yogyakarta which is affected by the Tugu Station arrangement by providing places in a number of traditional markets in the city.

"The placement of traders in traditional markets is a win-win solution offered by the regional government to traders. So it's not just about arranging it, but there are solutions offered," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Trade Office Yunianto Dwi Sutono as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

The number of traders from Pasar Kembang Street, to be precise on the south side of Yogyakarta Tugu Station, which was affected by the arrangement was around 37 people and were placed in more than one market.

However, the merchant cannot choose the location of the target market. Traders must also be willing to adjust the type of merchandise when transferred to traditional markets.

"At least, by providing a new place, the traders can still work to earn income," he said.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Operational Area (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta Supriyanto said the demolition of buildings and kiosks along the west side of Jalan Pasar Kembang was completed last week.

“Currently, we have installed barriers on the former buildings that have been demolished. As for the construction, it will be carried out as soon as possible, it is estimated at the beginning of the year because we are still busy with the year-end holiday post," he said.

According to Supriyanto, the arrangement is needed to improve services to train customers, especially at Tugu Yogyakarta Station.

"Moreover, Tugu Station serves passengers from local trains, KRL, to long-distance trains plus a rapid test service for prospective passengers, so it requires sufficient land," he said.

In addition, arrangements were also made to increase parking capacity at Tugu Yogyakarta Station which was considered to be quite crowded and in need of expansion.
