Muhaimin: The Presidential Election Coalition Partners' Decision Will Be Decided In 2022

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKB DPP Muhaimin Iskandar confirmed that his party's decision to form a coalition partner for the 2024 Presidential Election will be decided in 2022 after exploring for the next year.

"This coalition is still a long process, the assessment and togetherness is about a year, then there will be a decision on who PKB is with," said Muhaimin after attending the PKB DPP Christmas and New Year celebrations at the DPR building, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 21.

Muhaimin said it was related to the possibility of building a new axis in the 2024 presidential election.

He explained that PKB was still exploring and opening communication with all political parties regarding the possibility of building a coalition.

According to Muhaimin, it is impossible for PKB to face the 2024 presidential election alone, so it needs a coalition with other parties.

"There is no new axis yet. We are still exploring all parties because it is impossible for PKB to stand alone, so a coalition is needed," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the PKB DPP Jazilul Fawaid said his party was ready to form and lead its own coalition axis in the 2024 presidential election.

Even though until now the existing coalition of political parties is very solid in one line, according to him, it is not impossible that in 2023 there will be a lot of political acrobats.

"When it comes to the axis, PKB wants to lead its own axis, I don't know in what way. I, as the Deputy General Chair of the Election Winning Division, want PKB to lead the axis. PPP should also participate because they are both green, just add one more, for example, PAN is enough," he said.

If PKB can form and lead its own coalition axis, continued prayer, the thing that is emphasized is how to prioritize common interests, not creating identity politics.
