Anticipating The Omicron Variant, DPR Leader: Don't Panic, You'll Not Focus

JAKARTA - The DPR leadership appealed to all parties not to panic regarding the discovery of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 case that had entered Indonesia.

The DPR also asked the government not to rush in determining preventive measures. The government should carry out tracing properly to anticipate the spread of Omicron in the country.

"We should not panic. Because if we panic, everything that will be done later will be rushed and unfocused. It is better if we focus on tracing, then the government should also make a study on the steps to be taken," said the Deputy Chair. DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the DPR Building, Monday, December 20.

In addition, continued Dasco, strict health protocols must always be followed. So that incidents like the Delta variant in the middle of last year do not happen again. "Hopefully with what we have done, the spike in COVID-19 will not rise as it did last time in our country," Dasco said. Regarding the discovery of 3 cases of Omicron RI, the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party suggested that the public wait for developments from the government. Because Dasco said, this is still being studied by the Ministry of Health. "Because there are still disagreements about the impact of those affected by Omicron. We don't know whether it will harm it then, we ask the government to make an in-depth study," he said.
