Two Rivers Overflow, Kuala Lumpur Floods, Connecting Toll Roads Between Provinces Are Inundated

JAKARTA - Heavy rains from Saturday, December 18 to Sunday, December 19 in the early hours of the morning caused floods in the Klang Valley area in Malaysia, namely Kuala Lumpur, Selangor to Cyberjaya near the capital Putrajaya.

Floods inundated residents' settlements, public facilities, a number of schools to inundate toll road sections that connect between states or provinces.

The floods in Kuala Lumpur occurred due to the eruption of the Gombak River and the Klang River which met at the Indian Mosque.

As a result, the building in front of Dataran Merdeka, which is an icon of the city of Kuala Lumpur, was flooded until the road was closed to the public.

The flood also entered the apartment parking lot and soaked dozens of occupants' cars so that they had to be moved to a safe place as happened at Bistari Condominium.

The Chinese settlement on Jalan Tiong Nam adjacent to the PWTC LRT Station was flooded until Sunday and a number of cars were submerged.

The jogging track on the banks of the Gombak River, which is common for local sports, is also submerged. Animals such as snakes also appeared on the surface so residents called officers to catch them.

Meanwhile, the Selangor State Disaster Management Unit reported that until 12:00 noon, a total of 14,716 victims had been rescued and placed at 103 Temporary Evacuation Centers in the districts of Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Langat. towards Shah Alam, Selangor, still submerged in floods.

A number of toll road sections such as Federal Highway, Batu 3, Federal Highway, i-City, NKVE, Bukit Jelutong, Section 7, Section 13, TTDI Jaya, Glenmarie Hicom, LKSA, Alam Impian were also affected by the floods.

Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has ordered the Fire and Rescue Team to evacuate and assist residents trapped in a number of flood -hit areas.

Ismail has announced a holiday to all officers affected by the floods.
