Thousands Of Residents Are Isolated Because The Tiku Lima Jorong Agam Entrance Is Flooded

AGAM - Around 4,000 residents of Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong, Tanjungmutiara District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, were isolated because the road to the nagari was flooded by consignments caused by the overflowing of the Batang Masang and Batang Antokan rivers.

Secretary of Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong, Anaswar in Lubukbasung, Agam Regency, said the thousands of residents came from Jorong Muaro Putih, Jorong Subang-subang, Jorong Labuhan, Jorong Gadih Angik and Jorong Masang.

"Residents cannot go out to take care of their needs to other areas, but community activities are as usual. The availability of basic necessities is still safe for the next few weeks," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 19.

He said residents could not go to other areas because the main road was flooded with water as high as 0.5 to 1.5 meters, so vehicles could not pass through other areas.

Floods also inundated alternative roads to the sub-district government center and the provincial government center.

"Especially in Jorong Gadih Angik, quite a lot of flood points have inundated the road," he said.

So that people can go outside, he added, two large boats are needed to carry the residents' motorbikes.

The government of Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong has coordinated with the Agam Water Police Satpol to deploy a boat to carry residents' motorbikes.

"Currently, there is still less than one boat at the location where the floodwaters have inundated the main road," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Agam Polres Air Pol, AKP Martono, said that his party had deployed a boat to help residents.

"The boat is already at the location, but the main road has two flood points in Abdeling Tiga and Somel. Motorcycles can exit through Ujuang Labuang," he said.
