The Ministry Of Transportation's Response After The Omicron Variant Was Officially Detected In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) continues to monitor the implementation of health protocols for travellers in all modes of transportation, both domestic and international, as the first case of the Omicron variant was discovered in Indonesia.

"Regarding the provisions of the travel conditions for all modes of transportation, both domestically and internationally during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Ministry of Transportation refers to the Domestic Instructions and Circulars of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, and always adapts to changes in accordance with the dynamics. the development of conditions and situations on the ground," said the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday, December 16.

Adita explained, for international travel requirements, the Ministry of Transportation is currently referring to the SE Covid-19 Handling Task Force No. 25 Year 2021.

He said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi had instructed transportation authorities and operators in all modes of transportation to ensure that the health protocols were implemented properly.

Both in infrastructure (terminals, stations, ports and airports), as well as facilities (buses, trains, ships, and planes).

The Ministry of Transportation also continues to maintain and improve coordination with various related parties, especially the National Police and the TNI who have helped a lot in carrying out the implementation of prokes in the field.

As is known, Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced that one positive case of Covid-19 due to transmission of the B.1.1.529 or Omicron variant was detected in Indonesia, on Thursday (16/15).

This case was detected by a janitor on duty at the Wisma Atlet Hospital.
