Densus 88 Uncovers Roles Of 4 Suspected Terrorists In South Sumatra, Hides Fugitives To Raise Funds

JAKARTA - Detachment 88 Anti-terror stated that four suspected terrorists of the Jamaah Islamiyah network who were arrested in South Sumatra played a role in hiding fugitives and raising funds. Their roles were revealed based on the results of the examination.

"Some of them helped and hid the escapees of the JI DPOs. There were also those who were active in fundraising, raising funds for the fugitives," said the Head of Operational Assistance (Kabag Banops) of Densus 88 Anti-terror Police Kombes Pol Aswin Siregar to reporters, Wednesday, December 15 .

The terrorist suspects, with the initials FAS, EK, AR, and AI. Where, three of them were arrested in the Palembang area and one in Lubuk Linggau.

The arrest of the four suspected terrorists is the result of the development of the arrest of the JI network in Lampung in 2020. Moreover, it is also related to the arrest of JI leader Parawijayanto on June 29, 2019.

This is because these four suspected terrorists have hidden the whereabouts of fugitives from JI, whose whereabouts were forbidden.

"There were several JI groups who fled, including to South Sumatra, namely DPO on behalf of Suwarno alias Hafidz while their escape was accommodated or facilitated by the JI Network in the South Sumatra Region," said Aswin.
