Landslide And Floods Land Agam West Sumatra, Dozens Of Houses Are Submerged

AGAM - Landslides and floods hit Nagari Silareh Aia, Palembayan sub-district, Agam district, West Sumatra, causing 40 houses to be submerged and one bridge collapsing.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Agam Muhammad Lutfi Ar, said that flooding occurred in Jorong Tapian Kandih and Jorong Tompek, Nagari Salareh Aia.

Meanwhile, landslides occurred on the Padang Koto Gadang provincial road to Matur, in Labuah Sampik, Jorong Ngungun, Nagari Salareh Aia.

"The floods and landslides were due to high rainfall that hit the area on Tuesday afternoon," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 14.

He said the flood in Jorong Tapian Kandih, Nagari Salareh Aia caused 40 houses to be flooded with a height of 50-100 centimeters, three motorbikes were washed away, and 20 residents were trapped in floodwaters in their gardens due to overflowing water from the Batang Air Nanggang River.

"One motorbike has been found and only two units remain," he said.

Floods in Jorong Tompek, Nagari Salreh Aia caused a bridge to collapse, so that 150 families in Kampung Padang Taban and Kampung Padang Binjai were isolated.

A landslide on the Padang Koto Gadang provincial road to Matur, in Labuah Sampik, Jorong Ngungun, Nagari Salreh Aia, caused the 20-meter-long road shoulder to sink with a depth of 20 meters.

"This is temporary data that we have obtained from the jorong guardians and nagari guardians," he said.

The local BPBD has made efforts to handle the disaster by deploying members of the task force. In addition, to coordinate with the jorong government, the nagari government, and the sub-district government.

"The task force is already at the location to evacuate the victims," he said.
