Thousands Of Bintan Kindergarten-Junior High School Students Get Free School Uniforms Again

BINTAN - Thousands of students at public schools in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, starting from Kindergarten, Elementary School and Junior High School (TK, SD, and SMP) again get free school uniforms.

The head of the Bintan Education Office, Tamsir, said that the school uniforms that were distributed free of charge consisted of student council clothes and batik clothes with a golden rice motif, typical of Bintan.

Apart from school uniforms, students also get free bags, hats and ties. The school uniforms and school supplies handed out were far less than before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bintan Regency Government before the pandemic or since five years ago distributed five types of school uniforms, and school supplies such as notebooks, pens, pencils, bags, shoes, ties and hats.

"This program is implemented to improve the quality of education, as well as ease the burden on families, especially during the new school year," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 14.

Tamsir said the delivery of school uniforms and school supplies this year was delayed due to budget refocusing. Usually, the delivery of school uniforms and school supplies is done in October.

"This year we will do it in the third week of December," he said.

Tamsir detailed the number of students who received school uniforms and free school supplies for kindergarten as many as 170 people, SD 2,901 people and Madrasah Aliyah 238 people, and junior high schools reached 2,696 people.

"Next year the same activity will be carried out," he said.
