In Aceh, Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Asks Local Government To Meet 70 Percent Vaccination Target

JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked the regional government in Aceh Province to meet the target of the first dose of vaccination by 70 percent.

This was conveyed by Tito during the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the COVID-19 Vaccination Acceleration Strategy with the Aceh Provincial Government, at the Multipurpose Building of the Aceh Regional Secretariat. According to him, to achieve this target, the role of the regional government is needed to be able to increase vaccination achievements. "That's why we visited Aceh, the goal is to do that (accelerate vaccination)," said Tito Karnavian as reported by Antara, Tuesday, December 14.

Later, continued the Minister of Home Affairs, in early January 2022, an evaluation will be carried out on which areas have successfully met the vaccination target. The Minister of Home Affairs is one of the parties assigned by the president to encourage local governments to accelerate vaccination. In addition to the Minister of Home Affairs, the President has assigned the Minister of Health (Menkes), the National Police Chief, the TNI Commander, the Head of BIN, and the Attorney General together with other stakeholders to move to encourage the acceleration of vaccination. Acceleration and distribution of vaccinations is one of the government's main focuses in handling COVID-19. In addition to continuing to ensure adequate supply of vaccines, the central government continues to strive to improve and even out achievements in order to meet targets.

It is known, Aceh Province is one of the provinces that needs to increase its vaccination achievement to meet the target. The Minister of Home Affairs said that the acceleration efforts did not only rely on the provincial government, but also the role of districts/cities and all related parties. In addition to encouraging the achievement of vaccinations, the Minister of Home Affairs visited Aceh Province to identify various problems and obstacles faced, as well as to find solutions for handling them. This effort is expected to increase and the region succeeds in achieving the vaccination rate target. Vaccination must still be accelerated to form herd immunity.

Besides being useful for protecting the community from the threat of a pandemic, he said, the vaccination achievement rate is an indicator in providing recommendations for travelers who want to go to an area. Vice versa, if the vaccination rate is low, WHO does not recommend visiting the area. Apart from Aceh Province, the Minister of Home Affairs previously visited several areas where vaccination achievement was still relatively low. The Minister of Home Affairs will still visit several other areas to encourage the achievement of vaccination targets in these areas.
