Subscription To Rob Flood Every Year, Indramayu Proposes Breakwater Development To Central Government

INDRAMAYU - The government of Indramayu Regency, West Java, proposed the construction of a breakwater to the central government to deal with the tidal flood or tidal flood that occurs every year.

"We have proposed the construction of a breakwater in 2017, but it has not been realized. For that I will repeat the request to the central government," said Indramayu Regent Nina Agustina in Indramayu, Antara, Friday, December 10.

According to him, the construction of a breakwater is really needed, considering the distance between the beach and residential areas is getting closer, because abrasion has occurred.

Nina said the rob that occurred especially in Eretan Wetan Village, Kandanghaur District, Indramayu Regency, had taken place more than 15 years ago, for that it is necessary to immediately build a breakwater.

"The flooding has been going on for about 15 years, because this is directly facing the ocean," he said.

Nina said that currently the efforts of the village and sub-district governments have taken temporary anticipation by using sacks in mutual cooperation to anticipate the entry of sea water into the surface of residents' houses.

"Currently, we have carried out temporary handling with sacks and the community has also raised their respective houses," he said.

Nina said that she had offered to the local community to move their residence to a safer location and not be affected by tidal flooding. However, the community is still adamant in wanting to survive in their respective homes even though they are often hit by tidal waves.

"We tried to offer for relocation, but it turns out that people still feel at home and don't want to," he said.
