Goldfish Survived The Semeru Eruption To Red Roses, Khofifah Optimistic Lumajang Resurrected

JAKARTA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa shared a number of photos and videos related to the post-eruption conditions of Mount Semeru, Lumajang. Khofifah also shared photos of goldfish that survived the eruption.

“This goldfish managed to survive the hot clouds that fell from Mount Semeru (4/12). In fact, the houses in Kampung Renteng, Lumajang where this goldfish were found, are almost covered with volcanic ash," said Khofifah via her Instagram account khofifah.ip, Friday, December 10.

"Masha Allah. Kun Fayakun, if Allah SWT wills, then nothing is impossible. To all refugees, Fa inna ma'al 'usri yusra Inna ma'al 'usri yusra. Verily, after hardship there is ease. Lumajang Rise," he continued.

Previously, Khofifah also shared a portrait of a red rose that was not covered in Semeru's volcanic ash.

“I found these roses in the hamlet of Curah Kobokan, Supit Urang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang while reviewing the impact of the APG on Mount Semeru. Red and beautiful. In fact, the area has been swept away by hot clouds of avalanches," he said.

"Hopefully the enthusiasm for the Lumajang community to rise soon is like this rose blooming, remaining optimistic and confident, even though it has just been hit by a disaster. Amen," continued Khofifah

Most recently, after the Semeru eruption, the Surabaya SAR Team said the death toll from the hot clouds falling from Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency as of Friday afternoon was 43 people.

Head of the Operations Section of the Surabaya SAR Office, I Wayan Suyatna, informed that the hot clouds from Mount Semeru that occurred on December 4 also caused as many as 82 people to suffer minor injuries.

"In addition, it was also recorded that 20 victims suffered serious injuries. And based on community reports, information was obtained as many as 12 people were declared missing," said Suyatno to reporters in Lumajang, Friday, December 10, as reported by Antara.

The parties involved in the search for victims included the Surabaya SAR Office, the Military District Command (Kodim) 0821 Lumajang and the Lumajang Resort Police (Polres).

In addition, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Java Province, Lumajang Regency BPBD, Civil Service Police Unit, Lumajang Transportation Service, Jember and Lumajang SAR Potential, as well as a number of other potential SAR organizations.

Meanwhile, the joint SAR team is divided into three search units.

The SAR 1 unit conducted a search in the Koboan Bulk Hamlet, Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang.
