Jokowi Asks Fugitives To Be Pursued, KPK: The Search For DPOs Including Harun Masiku Continues

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will continue to hunt down its fugitives, including Harun Masiku. Harun is a suspect in a bribery case related to the determination of the interim replacement (PAW) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period.

This was conveyed by the KPK in response to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s statement on World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) on Thursday, December 9 yesterday to hunt down fugitives for criminal acts.

"We make sure that the KPK continues to search for KPK DPOs, which have been set since 2017 and 2020," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Friday, December 10.

He ensures that any information received will be followed up. Not only that, Ali asked the public to help the KPK find the fugitive.

There are several ways that people can do if they see a fugitive from the KPK. Starting from reporting to the police to submitting reports directly to the KPK via electronic mail or email information at [email protected] or call center 198.

Currently there are four fugitives who are still being pursued by the KPK. Apart from Masiku, the three fugitives are Surya Darmadi, who was named a suspect in 2019, Izil Azhar, who has been a suspect since 2018, and Kirana Kotama, who has been a suspect since 2017.

"Every information we receive regarding the presence of the DPO, we will make sure it is followed up," said Ali.

Harun Masiku was named a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan in January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could get an easy seat as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives through time shifts or PAW.

Regarding the search for the former PDI-P legislative candidate, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, confirmed that the search would escalate. Moreover, the current COVID-19 pandemic is under control.

"Currently COVID-19 has subsided. It will also be our commitment to again increase our search for Harun Masiku," he stressed some time ago.

"We are once again committed from the start because everyone who is already on the wanted list will definitely be searched for. One of the commitments is to submit it to Interpol," added Ghufron.
