JAKARTA - A fire occurred in four houses in a densely populated area of Jalan Tambora 1, RT 10/02, Tambora Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta.

In addition to killing five occupants of the house in one family, the fire also crushed 11 motorbikes and 3 cars from one of the burning houses.

According to the results of the interim examination of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Sudin Gulkarmat), the fire is strongly suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit.

Head of Operation Section of West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Suket Bahanan, recorded that from the first house belonging to Umar (40), the object that caught fire was on the 3rd floor outside an area of 24 square meters. From this house, there is one family head (KK) with 6 souls, they survived the death.

"The object that burned in the second house had two floors with an area of 600 square meters. In this house belonging to Sie Tjin Man (80) there is 1 family with 5 people," Suket told reporters, Wednesday, December 8.

Then in the house belonging to Wiwi (40) the area of the object that was burned was 75 square meters. In this house there is 1 family with 9 people.

"The area burned in the house (of the victim) is 36 square meters and includes 11 motorbikes and 3 cars," said Suket.

Meanwhile, Wijaya, a local resident, said that the fire burned down the house where one family had died.

"All of his houses burned down, man. The victims were evacuated after the fire died and (the officers) were immediately taken," he said.

Until now, the fire case is still being handled by the Tambora Police. Police are still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
