DPR Agrees With Three Bills For Establishing A High Court

JAKARTA - The DPR RI Plenary Meeting approved three draft laws (RUU) regarding the establishment of a high court, namely the High Court Bill, the Religious High Court (PT) Bill, and the State Administrative High Court Bill (PTTUN).

"Can the three bills regarding the establishment of a high court become law," said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the Indonesian Parliament Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 7, as reported by Antara.

All members of the Indonesian House of Representatives who were present expressed their agreement with the three bills concerning the establishment of a high court into law.

The three bills that were approved were: first, the bill on the establishment of the Riau Islands High Court, the West Sulawesi High Court, the North Kalimantan High Court, and the West Papua High Court.

Second, the bill on the establishment of the Palembang State Administrative High Court, the Banjarmasin State Administrative High Court, the Manado State Administrative High Court, and the Mataram State Administrative High Court.

Third, the Bill on the Establishment of the Bali Religious High Court, the Papua Religious High Court, the Riau Islands Religious High Court, the West Sulawesi Religious High Court, and the North Kalimantan Religious High Court.

In the discussion of the three bills, said Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI M. Nurdin, the Legislative Committee Committee made a working visit to three provinces, namely Riau Islands Province, South Kalimantan Province, and West Nusa Tenggara Province on 11 to 13 November 2021.

He explained that the visit was to ensure local government support in providing land for the construction of the High Court, Religious High Court, and/or State Administrative High Court.

"On November 22, 2021, the Legislative Body will hold a working meeting with the Government, which is physically represented by the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform, Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Director General of Budgeting of the Ministry of Finance, and Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs," he said.

The working meeting is in the context of making decisions in the Level I Discussion on the results of the discussion of 3 (three) Bills on the Establishment of the High Court with the agenda of listening to the mini views of the factions on the results of the discussion of the Bill.

According to him, based on the mini-faction view, all factions accepted the work of the Panja and agreed that the three Bills on the Establishment of the High Court would immediately be continued in Level II Discussions in the Plenary Session of the DPR RI to be enacted and approved as laws.
