JAKARTA - Deputy for Prevention of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Pahala Nainggolan said about 40 percent of hundreds of ministries/agencies in the country never reported the gratuities received by their officials.

This is allegedly due to the low awareness of state officials to report gifts received and allegedly related to their positions.

"We have 794 institutions, ministries/agencies, there are 794 regional governments. But as long as the KPK stands awareness to refuse and report if it accepts it is still very low," said Pahala when delivering his remarks at the 2021 Gratification Control Award event which was broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Monday, December 6th.

Seeing this condition, the Deputy for Prevention of the KPK will increase the number of reports on receiving gratuities to a minimum of 60 percent by 2022. Pahala said this increase must be done because many ministries/agencies have never reported at all even since the KPK was established.

"Our target this year is that our leaders report that our target is only 60 percent of these institutions report. One report has been counted as one, but you can imagine that 40 percent of the 794 never reported receiving gratuities to the KPK as long as the KPK was established," he said.

"So we can see how low awareness is while praying, hopefully those who don't report it don't get a gratuity. While praying, I don't know either yes or no, but that's it," added Pahala.

Furthermore, he invites all state officials to report the gratuities they receive within 30 working days. Pahala also invites all Gratification Control Units (UPG) in ministries/agencies to continue to socialize the rejection of gratification.

"If (the state organizer, ed) receives it, report it immediately while for the UPG manager to intensify (socialization, ed)," he said.

"UPG must socialize gratification at the first opportunity it must be rejected. There is no need to argue about the definition, if he gives it to your father's position, ladies and gentlemen, reject it immediately. We don't need to argue again," he concluded.
