JAKARTA - The National Police said they would alert personnel at all entrances to Indonesia. The goal is to anticipate the entry of Omicron, which is a new variant of COVID-19.

"We have emphasized that the National Police in particular helps to carry out surveillance at all entrances, both entrances at airports, entrances at seaports and on land," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Friday, December 3.

"We have information that the variant is already in Singapore. Therefore, citizens who travel to areas that may have a vulnerability to the spread of the Omicron variant must really be careful," said Dedi.

In addition to supervision, said Dedi, President Joko Widodo also asked the National Police to increase the acceleration of vaccination in all parts of Indonesia. In fact, it is targeted that by the end of this year 70 percent of Indonesians have been vaccinated.

"By the end of this year all provinces are expected to have achieved the 70 percent target. This must be conveyed, especially vaccinations targeting the elderly," said Dedi.
