Police Doubt About Transjakarta Bus Driver Who Collised Post At PGC: How Come There Are No Brake Marks

JAKARTA - The police said that the temporary cause of the TransJakarta bus accident that hit the Traffic Police Post (Pos Polantas) PGC Cililitan was because the gas pedal was crushed by a jack. This is based on the confession of the bus driver.

"The reason is because the jack rolled while turning the throttle on the gas pedal," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Argo Wiyono to VOI, Friday, December 3.

However, the police did not immediately believe the statement from the driver. Because, if the alibi was true, the driver should have made an effort to brake.

However, from the results of the inspection at the scene, continued Argo, his party did not find any signs of braking.

"But then he should be able to apply the brakes, why is there no brake marks," said Argo.

"Why did the car keep running after it crashed. Until it collapsed and swayed, the bus stopped," continued Argo.

Therefore, Argo said that his party would re-examine the driver. In addition, the relevant parties to the condition of the bus will also be examined.

"Meanwhile, we are still checking the drivers, witnesses, assistants, technicians, as well as CCTV on the dashboard and at the location," said Argo.

After the entire series of examinations are completed, then a case is carried out. The aim is to determine the cause of the incident and whether there was an element of negligence behind the accident.

"While it is reasonable to suspect that the driver was negligent, we will carry out a more detailed and in-depth examination," said Argo. Mayjen Sutoyo Street, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

As a result of the collision, the Polantas Post was badly damaged after being hit by a Transjakarta bus from the direction of Jatinegara. According to information, a Transjakarta officer was injured in the accident.

The accident had caused traffic jams around the PGC Cililitan area. The reason is, half the bus body is still on the shoulder of the road so that it blocks the flow of traffic in that location.
