Bobby Nasution Raises Medan's UMK To IDR 40 Thousand

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution recommended the City Minimum Wage (UMK) in 2022. For 2022, Medan's UMK is IDR 3,370,645, 08.

Previously, the UMK 2021 in Medan City was Rp. 3,329,867. This means that there is an increase in the minimum wage of IDR 40,778.08 or 1.22 percent compared to the previous one.

"The increase, based on yesterday's agreement, is above 1 percent," said Bobby Nasution, Thursday, December 2.

Bobby Nasution said that the determination of the UMK has been carried out by involving three related parties, namely the government, employers and labor unions who are members of the wage council.

This decision was also taken with careful consideration. Even though the workers previously requested that Medan's UMK be increased by 10 percent.

The son-in-law of President Joko Widodo said that the demand for workers was an input during discussions regarding wage fixing. However, the result was that Medan's UMK was increased by 1.22 percent.

"Regarding the demand for workers who demonstrate, we decide that we will take them to the dialogue room and finally take a policy that is agreed by the employers and is suitable for workers," concluded Bobby Nasution.
