Anticipating The Omicron Variant, Mataram COVID-19 Task Force Prepares 3 Special Central Isolation Locations For Foreigners-PMI

JAKARTA - The Mataram City COVID-19 Task Force, West Nusa Tenggara will re-impose centralized isolation for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) or foreign nationals (WNA) entering Mataram. Centralized quarantine to prevent the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in this area.

"The location for centralized isolation will be immediately discussed with the Mataram City COVID-19 Task Force Team," said Mataram City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson I Nyoman Swandiasa in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, November 30.

According to information, the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant is faster than the Delta variant, so the Task Force must take quick and appropriate steps so that no cases are found.

"For centralized isolation locations, we have three alternative locations, namely Hotel Nutana, Fizz, and Wisma Nusantara," he said.

He said, the PMI arrival scenario was almost the same as the initial scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic, except that in the past the isolation was carried out for 14 days, now it is seven days.

"Then when the COVID-19 case slackened, the quarantine for PMI and foreign nationals was only three days, but now it has increased again to seven days," he said.

This, said Swandiasa, who is also the Head of the Mataram City Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo), as a form of anticipation for the central government to prevent the entry of the new COVID-19 variant.

"The government has even taken surveillance measures for the entry of PMIs and foreigners through several points including those from Bali, Riau, Batam and Jakarta," he said.

In this regard, the City of Mataram as the capital of the NTB Province and the center of national and international activities must carry out maximum supervision so that it remains in the COVID-19 green zone.

"The finding of new COVID-19 cases in Mataram has been very sloping. In the past two weeks there was only one case, that too was an asymptomatic person (OTG) and there were no more findings when officers conducted contact tracing," he said.
