Mercedes Driver Recklessly Goes Against 3 Cars At JORR Suspected Of Dementia, Has Been Returned To Family

JAKARTA - The reckless driver of the Mercedes E300 or Mercy sedan on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) KM 53,600 B is strongly suspected of suffering from dementia. Due to this illness, the driver decided to go against the flow at JORR and rammed into three other vehicles.

"From initial information, it is suspected that the person concerned is in a condition of dementia or decreased ability to think," said Head of the Sub-Directorate for Law Enforcement at the Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Argo Wiyono, when confirmed, Antara, Sunday, November 28.

Luckily there were no fatalities in the accident, only one driver involved in the collision suffered minor injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital.

Argo said that currently the Mercedes driver had been returned to the family because his condition, which was suffering from dementia and was old, did not allow for an examination.

"Because his condition still hasn't recovered. When asked what the motive is for turning around and in the opposite direction, people are also confused," he said.

Argo revealed that the reason the police sent the Mercedes driver back to his family was because there were no fatalities in the accident. The family of the Mercedes driver is also willing to compensate for material losses caused by the accident.

"Even though there is a condition of damage, the family is responsible for compensating for the loss. So we will hand it over for the time being. If there are fatalities, we may make arrests," he added.

However, Argo confirmed that the police would continue to investigate the Mercedes driver. Further examination is planned to be carried out on Monday with assistance from a psychiatrist.
