Proud! Indonesian School In Malaysia Wins 4 Gold In Dance Competition In Spain

JAKARTA - The Kota Kinabalu Indonesian School (SIKK) of the State of Sabah Malaysia won four gold medals at the "International Online Festival-Competition, Paints of the Spanish Sun" in Barcelona, Spain, which was held in November 2021.

Launching Antara, Saturday, in this event, SIKK solo dancers managed to show their talents and won gold medals for the 15-16 year old modern dance category on behalf of Dhestiansia Narendra Rageswara.

While the category "folkdance" 15-16 years under the name of Janet bint Tulak while the category "folkdance" 17-20 years under the name of Rion Rion.

The SIKK dance team is under the guidance of Dwi Kristiyanto and Sri Ningsih.

According to the judges, each of these solo dancers had good performances, dance techniques and interpretations.

Meanwhile, in the 14-17 year old cultural inscription dance team with choreographer Dwi Kristiyanto, Dhestiansia Narendra Rageswara also won a gold medal in this event.

"The jury praised the technique and good interpretation of the Prasasti Budaya dance team, besides that the jury also stated that if you want to be more perfect you need a little synchronization of movements in the group," he said.

The "International Online Festival-Competition, Paints of the Spanish Sun, Spain, Barcelona" festival was attended by several countries, namely Russia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Romania while the judges from this competition come from Bulgaria, Russia, Spain and Ukraine.

According to choreographer Dwi Kristiyanto, they can perform instantly during the COVID-19 pandemic through a long process with various innovative programs carried out by the school.

"Starting with the selection of children who are talented and interested in dancing, training strategies in the midst of limited movement and also one of SIKK's missions is to excel in the field of culture, has now proven its success," he said.

He said SIKK is not only a cultural ambassador in Sabah Malaysia through cultural activities but has shown achievements both at the national, ASEAN, Asia Pacific and European levels.

The Head of the Indonesian School of Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) Dadang Hermawan said that various innovative and creative programs that had been prepared during the pandemic had succeeded in making dozens of achievements at regional, national and international levels.

"Of course, because of the enormous and continuous support in the form of motivation and funding facilitation from the Atdikbud of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur M. Farid Ma'ruf," he said.

Dadang Hermawan and Atdikbud of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, M. Farid Ma'ruf, congratulated the SIKK dance team for proving their works both regionally, nationally and internationally, not only in Southeast Asia but also in Europe.

"Hopefully in the future SIKK will be even more proud not only for Indonesian overseas schools but for Indonesia," he said.
