JAKARTA - The Committee for COVID-19 Handling and Recovery (PEN) is finalizing a zero percent loan scheme to housewives and victims of layoffs due to the pandemic. Later, this assistance will be incorporated into the People's Business Credit (KUR) program which specifically handles the UMKM.

Executive Secretary I of the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (PEN), Raden Pardede, explained that the zero percent interest loan assistance is expected to be able to make people stay productive. So, they are able to meet their daily needs.

The expansion of this zero percent interest loan will not stop until this year, but will also continue until 2021.

"Financial access is again being tried to expand the People's Business Credit (KUR), even given to housewives or victims of layoffs. With zero percent interest subsidies until the end of the year. Maybe it will be continued until next year. So direct assistance to be productive, they can add new skills," he said in a video conference, Monday, August 10.

Along with the plan to provide zero percent interest loans, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) is also working to improve technology infrastructure. So, people from various regions can get this stimulus.

Furthermore, Raden hopes that with the improvement of this technological infrastructure, it will make it easier for people to get financial access and can easily get it.

"This is again being made by the Minister of Communication and Information (Johnny G Plate). So a combination of all of them. Social assistance to be more productive, resilient, access to cheap credit along with guarantees, and finally access to technology," he said.
