Police Call Christmas-New Year Holiday, 70 Percent Of People Will Travel

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that public mobility will increase during the 2021 and 2022 Christmas holidays. In fact, it is predicted that 70 percent of the people will travel.

"The response from the community is 70 percent will want to go home, but 30 percent choose to stay at home," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Friday, November 26.

Because of this, the police are urging people to stay at home. The reason is, by staying at home, then, it can help the government to continue to suppress the number of positive cases of COVID-19.

"We urge the public not to travel and go home if it is not urgent," said Dedi.

In addition, Dedi also mentioned that Indonesia has become the first in handling the spread of COVID-19 throughout Southeast Asia. So, it is hoped that the community will continue to help the government in controlling COVID-19.

"So remember that Indonesia is currently ranked 1 for the management of anticipating COVID-19 at the ASEAN level. We are the best. Don't let it be because we are slack because we are negligent and we ignore it, COVID-19 will rise again," said Dedi.

For information, the National Police stated that in securing the 2021 Christmas and New Year holidays, they would implement a micro-scale PPKM post scheme. Where, the scheme follows up on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs number 62 of 2021.

"In the future, there will be check point supervision of the joint team of Satpol PP and TNI and Polri," said Dedi.

In addition, the National Police with other institutions will also be on guard at posts spread throughout Indonesia.

"The National Police also have posts at all toll gates, and certain access points on the border between regions as check points," said Dedi.
