South Sumatra Police Labfor Help Investigate Minimarket Fire In Bengkulu That Caused 4 Deaths

JAKARTA - The Bengkulu Police through the Bengkulu Police Satrekrim assisted by the Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) of the Regional Police (Polda) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) identified and processed the crime scene (TKP) for the New Khatulistiwa Store. The city of Bengkulu resulted in the death of four people.

Bengkulu Police Chief AKBP Andy Daddy Nurchayo SIK represented by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Yusiady said that currently his party is focused on finding out the exact cause of the fire.

"Four labfor teams from the South Sumatra Police helped carry out the crime scene investigation to find out the cause of the fire," said Yusiady, in Bengkulu, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

He said that today his party is focused on sweeping the ground floor of the minimarket as well as the cosmetic shop. Because the second and third floors of the building were not searched, because the condition of the building made it impossible to conduct a crime scene.

Yusiady added that at this time the cause or temporary suspicion of the fire could not be conveyed. Because they are still waiting for the identification results from the forensic laboratory to know for sure the cause of the big fire at the New Khatulistiwa minimarket.

He explained that currently his party is still examining witnesses and looking for supporting evidence to find out the reason for the fire.

"Based on the testimony of the witness, the fire came from the front of the shop, but we are still waiting to be sure to check and the results from the laboratory team," said Yusiady.
