Change The Name Of The Street In Kalimalang To Admiral Malahayati, Anies Hopes That Jakarta-Aceh Will Be Closer

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan changed the name of Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang on the North Side with the name of a heroine from Aceh, namely Jalan Laksamana Malahayati.

Anies said that the inauguration of the renaming of the road located in East Jakarta was a form of respect from the DKI Provincial Government to Admiral Malahayati as a national hero, his extended family, and the Acehnese people in general.

"The people of Aceh have an important role in the long history of the independence of the Indonesian nation. Aceh has given birth to so many heroes who are known at the national level ranging from Teuku Umar, Sultan Iskandar Muda, Teungku Chik di Tiro, Cut Nyak Dhien, Cut Nyak Meutia, Teuku Nyak Arif, and Teuku Muhammad Hasan," said Anies at DKI City Hall, Tuesday, November 23.

Anies hopes that the naming of Jalan Laksamana Malahayati can strengthen community social relations between provinces, as well as community collaboration with the government and between regional governments.

Anies realized that Admiral Malahayati had become an extraordinary asset, not only for the people of Aceh, but also for the nation and state.

"The naming of Jalan Laksamana Malahayati on one of the roads in Jakarta is expected to further strengthen warm friendly relations between the people of Aceh and Jakarta," said Anies.

For information, the name change of this road is based on Governor's Decree no. 1242 of 2021 concerning the Determination of the Name of the Admiral Malahayati Street, replacing the North Side Kalimalang Inspection Street Name.

Jalan Laksamana Malahayati has a length of approximately 7.6 kilometers that crosses Pondok Kelapa Village, Duren Sawit Village, Pondok Bambu Village, Duren Sawit District and Cipinang Muara Village, South Cipinang Besar Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

This road is one of the entrances from East Jakarta to Bekasi City/Regency or vice versa. Currently, there are 5 signposts with the name of Jalan Laksamana Malahayati installed on the said road.
