JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police continue to investigate the arrest of an NGO chairman with the initials KPP because he was caught extorting an act of extorting a member of the National Police worth IDR 2.5 billion.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Hengki Haryadi said the modus operandi of the perpetrators was by visiting offices and giving statements that cornered the agency and the head of the institution.

"This is actually the modus operandi of the person concerned to extort the said institutions," Hengki told VOI, Tuesday, November 23.

The perpetrator with the initials KPP was recorded as having visited the South Jakarta Police Headquarters wearing shorts. The video was recorded using a TikTok account. The perpetrator looks angry at other agencies.

"It's at the Ministry of Finance, at Police Headquarters. That's actually one of the methods used to scare him, because he went viral," he said.

From the perpetrators of the initials KPP, the Police Chief said that he had confiscated evidence of crimes to frighten the victims in the form of letters to be sent to the President, Commission 3 and so on.

"This instrumental offense led by the TNI and Polri is a crime tool. The proceeds of the crime in question turned out to be using the mode of sending to the account of the NGO concerned," said the Police Chief.

The police chief said the extortion of the General Chairperson of the Tamperak NGO (The People's Shield for Anti-Corruption) has recently become very disturbing. Kombes Hengki said that his party received many reports of complaints from government agencies, including the TNI and Polri, with their mode of coming to the office to give statements that discredit the agency and the head of the institution.

"The person concerned emphasized the names of state officials, TNI and Polri with the aim of getting some money. Our members have been examined by Propam and it turns out that there was no bribery. Members of our task force have actually become victims of extortion from this NGO," he said.
