JAKARTA - Commission E of the DKI DPRD has reviewed the location of the SMAN 96 Jakarta building in Cengkareng Timur Village, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta which collapsed some time ago.

Member of Commission E of DKI DPRD Ima Mahdiah said, based on DPRD monitoring, it turned out that the structure of the SMAN 96 building which was being renovated was not up to standard. The iron that forms the framework of the building is known to be too thin.

"What we see, first of all, the structure of the building is not like other school buildings. It was already visible when the parts fell down, the irons looked smaller. That's why they collapsed, because the iron wasn't strong," Ima told reporters, Tuesday, November 23. .

Ima also admitted that he was surprised because the progress of heavy rehabilitation of SMAN 96 Jakarta carried out by PT Adhi Karya and PT Penta Rekayasa was too fast. Just two months of construction, the work has reached almost 60 percent.

"It's very thin, really, it has a building structure. Imagine if a lot of children had entered, 800 to 1,000 students were there. We can't imagine if we were in school again, the (building) would collapse right then and there. "Ima said. Therefore, Ima requested that the SMAN 96 Jakarta building be demolished to prevent the collapse of the building from happening again.

"Yes, it must be rebuilt, it must be completely dismantled. Because you want to force it if there are casualties? It's better not to build it all at once than there are fatalities," he said.

For information, the incident of the collapse of part of the SMA Negeri 96 Jakarta building occurred on Wednesday, November 17 at 13.30 WIB. The incident resulted in 4 injured people, namely construction workers and currently handling Cengkareng Hospital.
