MUI Members Arrested By Densus 88, Spokesperson Ma'ruf: Please Process Legal, Vice President Appreciates

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin appreciates the performance of the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police in arresting suspected terrorists, one of whom is an administrator of the Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

This was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi on the plane while heading to Jakarta while accompanying the Vice President's working visit to North Sulawesi Province, Friday, November 19.

"And the accuracy of the (suspected terrorist) is indeed in the MUI management, he is in the Fatwa Commission, yes (the Vice President's message) please be processed legally, the Vice President respects what Densus 88 has done," Masduki said as quoted by Antara.

The Vice President, as Chair of the MUI Advisory Council, also supports the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 to work against radicalism and terrorism by arresting parties suspected of being involved in illegal networks.

"That's good and it will continue in other places. Don't slack off because it's a fact that if it is in various places, then carry out strict actions, so that this country is safe," he said. carry out legal proceedings against suspected terrorists who are administrators of the Fatwa Commission.

"Let the security forces carry out the legal process properly, and we also appreciate the steps taken by the Anti-Terror Detachment 88 by the Police by conducting an investigation, whether it is at the MUI or in other institutions," said Masduki.

Previously, it was reported that the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested three suspected terrorists in Bekasi, West Java, for allegedly being involved in the Jamaah Islamiyaj (JI) network.

One of the suspected terrorists is Ahmad Zain, a member of the MUI Fatwa Commission, who is thought to be the Syuro Council of Jamaah Islamiyah.

Meanwhile, two other suspected terrorists who were arrested in Bekasi in the near future were Anung Al Hamat and Farid Okbah.
