MAMUJU - The West Sulawesi Police's Nakorba Investigation Directorate team (Polda Sulbar) thwarted the shipment of one kilogram of methamphetamine which was brought from Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi and will be marketed in the West Sulawesi region.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Sulawesi Police, Kombes Syamsu Ridwan, confirmed the disclosure of the drug case with one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.
"An alleged perpetrator with the initials RM was caught by officers while trying to escape by jumping into the river. Meanwhile, his colleague with the initials UN has not been found," said Syamsu Ridwan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.
From the arrest, said Syamsu Ridwan, personnel from the Ditreskoba Polda Sulbar managed to confiscate evidence in the form of 21 clear plastic sachets containing one kilogram of methamphetamine, a car and a mobile phone.
The disclosure of the drug case, said the Head of Public Relations, was based on information from the public regarding the shipment of shabu-shabu from Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi.
While passing through Beru-beru Village, Kalukku District, Mamuju Regency, personnel from the Ditreskoba Polda Sulbar tried to stop the car used by the perpetrator.
However, the two perpetrators tried to fight back by crashing into a police car, then fled towards Tarailu District.
While on the Tarailu Bridge, the perpetrator's car was stuck in traffic, then RM and UN again tried to escape by jumping into the Tarailu River.
The alleged perpetrator with the initials RM was arrested, while his UN colleague is still being searched.
"Our members in the field have coordinated with Basarnas to search for one of the perpetrators, who has not been found yet after escaping to the river," said Syamsu Ridwan.
The perpetrator was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a penalty of 20 years in prison.
"We are still developing this disclosure, while one of the perpetrators, namely the UN, is still being sought," said Syamsu Ridwan.
