JAKARTA - Mayor of Surakarta Gibran Rakabuming Raka appreciated the control of COVID-19 cases in neighboring districts, one of which was in Karanganyar.

At the Karanganyar Regency 104th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at the Raden Mas Said Karanganyar Sports Center, Thursday, Gibran who was also present as an invited guest said the local regional head had worked hard to control the number of cases of the disease.

According to him, the agglomeration area in Soloraya must work hand in hand in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The control of COVID-19 in Karanganyar is extraordinary. This is our common problem and we cannot stand alone in overcoming it. Therefore, the COVID-19 problem needs a sense of mutual cooperation. In this case, Karanganyar is a district that has succeeded in dealing with it," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.

Regarding COVID-19 cases in the area, based on the official COVID-19 information page in Karanganyar Regency, until now the area still leaves as many as 32 active cases. Of the total active cases, seven of them are hospitalized and the rest are self-isolating.

Meanwhile, five new cases were recorded today and five recovered cases. Meanwhile, the cumulative number of positive COVID-19 cases in the area since the beginning of the emergence of cases to date is 22,651 cases.

Meanwhile, apart from appreciating the handling of COVID-19, his party also considers Karanganyar to be a strategic partner to advance various sectors of the regional economy.

"Solo without Karanganyar will not be possible. Karanganyar is a very strategic work partner, we synergize with each other. There is no need to compete with each other because we are one. Once again Solo and Karanganyar are the same, there is no difference. Yes, if there is a special agreement or MoU Surely later it will be stronger, we will arrange it," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Karanganyar, Juliyatmono, admitted that he was proud of the presence of Gibran who was willing to take the time to come to the commemoration of the anniversary of the district, which has the nickname Bumi Inwithoutri.

"I thank Mas Gibran because he is the only regional head who came to be able to mingle with the people of Karanganyar, to commemorate the Karanganyar big day ceremony," he said.
