KPK Does Not Want To Rush To Target Formula E Corruption Allegations, Evidence Must Be Strong To Examine The Main Perpetrators

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said the search for evidence of alleged corruption in organizing the international Formula E racing event could not be carried out in a hurry. The investigation process must be carried out from the beginning.

"If you go straight to the center, it's hot (difficult). So that's the process," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 17.

This kind of process, continued Alexander, was carried out to gather the necessary evidence before examining the main perpetrators in this allegation.

"It's impossible for us if we suddenly check the main perpetrator (because, ed) we can immediately say 'ah, no' it's over (the investigation, ed)," he explained.

"So we start from the evidence, the witness statements that roughly support the existence of a project activity that will later be able to be narrowed," added Alexander.

Previously reported, the KPK admitted that it was investigating and had examined several parties related to allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the Formula E racing event.

Most recently, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Syaefulloh Hidayat and the President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto visited the KPK Red and White Building on Tuesday, November 9.

They came to submit a 600-page document related to the plan to organize Formula E. This was intended to provide support for monitoring corruption prevention (MCP) efforts to the KPK leadership.

The document contains the approval process to the preparations needed by the KPK to obtain detailed and complete information in investigating allegations of corruption in the planned international event.
