Mrs. Congratulations To The Commander Of The TNI And KSAD: Uphold The Sovereignty Of The NKRI!

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, congratulated the inauguration of the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa. He hoped that General Andika would bring the TNI to be more advanced and professional in its service to the country.

General Andika's inauguration by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was held at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/17/2021). Andika was sworn in after getting approval to become TNI Commander from the Indonesian House of Representatives last week.

“Congratulations on the inauguration of General Andika Perkasa as the new TNI Commander. Hopefully it can bring the TNI to be more professional and continue to be close to the people. Uphold the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, protect the entire nation and the entire homeland of Indonesia from threats and disturbances," said Puan.

General Andika became TNI Commander replacing Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto who will retire at the end of November 2021. Puan also thanked Hadi for his performance while leading the TNI since President Jokowi's first term.

"I express my highest appreciation specifically to Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto for his service while leading the TNI. The success and achievements of the TNI so far cannot be separated from the performance of Marshal Hadi," said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

In addition to the TNI Commander, the new Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) was also sworn in today, namely Lt. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman and the Head of BNPB, Major General Suharyanto. Lieutenant General Dudung, who is currently also serving as the Kostrad Commander, replaces General Andika, while Major General Suharyanto replaces Lt. Gen. Ganip Warsito, who will retire at the end of this year.

"On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, I also congratulate the election of Lieutenant General Dudung Abdurachman as Army Chief of Staff and Major General Suharyanto as Head of BNPB," said Puan.

To Lieutenant General Dudung, the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture hopes that the Indonesian Army will be more solid. Puan also asked Lieutenant General Dudung to improve the performance of the Indonesian Army, including in guarding state territory.

“Especially in border areas. We hope that the Indonesian Army will continue to be at the forefront of defense to safeguard the country's sovereignty," he said.

Then for the new Head of BNPB, Puan advised to always be ready in the face of disasters. Especially because BNPB is the coordinator of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

"We hope that BNPB will be more resilient and tireless, which together with other agencies will be responsible for handling the pandemic," said Puan.

With the rotation in various strategic positions, the TNI is expected to continue to maintain synergy with all agencies, including the National Police, which has been developed so far. Puan also hopes that the TNI will continue to assist the government in programs to handle the Covid-19 pandemic, including surveillance and vaccination.

"Keep the trust, and continue to put the country and the people above all else," he concluded.
