BANDUNG - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil emphasized the commitment or seriousness of the West Java Provincial Government to improve the quality of the environment in West Java, as well as create innovations to accelerate the quality improvement process.

"Last year, it rose by 10 points to 61.59 to be quite good. We hope that in 2021 it can rise, becoming a better quality of the environment in the future, because we have environmental commitment and innovation," said Ridwan Kamil in Bandung quoted by Antara, Tuesday. , November 16.

He said the quality of the environment (IKLH) in the province that he has led in the past two years continues to show a graph of improvement.

In 2019, the West Java IKLH reached 51.64 which means it was still in the poor category and through a number of innovations, in 2020 the West Java IKLH showed an improvement to 61.59.

One of the efforts to improve the quality of the environment is shown by maintaining the ecological function in the North Bandung Area (KBU).

"Although there is a new policy from the center, where the authority to use space is handed over to the City District, the province encourages districts/cities to continue to consider the KBU Perda," said the man who is familiarly called Kang Emil.

Through the Regional Spatial Planning Coordination Team (TKPRD), his party controls the use of space in the KBU from planning, utilization to supervision.

According to him, the West Java Provincial Government in the past year has shown significant achievements and efforts to fix a number of aspects of environmental improvement.

Ridwan Kamil said starting from the reduction in the level of pollution in the Citarum River from heavily polluted to light polluted in 2021.

West Java is also the only province that gave birth to eco village innovations where villages are firmly committed to environmental conservation.

The number has now reached 377 villages and will become a long-term culture that is implemented in all villages in West Java.

His party also managed to exceed the target of biodiversity through the Biological Park program whose target is 217 hectares and has now reached 238 hectares.

"Alhamdulillah, it rose 110 percent to 38 hectares," said Ridwan Kamil.

His party is also dealing with the issue of critical land and through reforestation efforts it targets to be able to plant 50 million trees in five years.

This program runs progressively where in three years it has been able to plant as many as 40.6 million trees or 80 percent of the target.

In addition, this program is accelerated using a digital campaign where residents of West Java who want to donate trees can register on the Simantri Bibit website and make residents aware of planting their own trees.

"Simantri Bibit can buy seeds and just pay digitally. Later, our team will plant and report where the tree was planted. If you plant it yourself, you can report it on the E-planting application," he said.
