Preventing COVID-19, Lampung Bans Activities And Celebrations Near The End Of The Year

BANDARLAMPUNG - The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov) has banned various activities that have the potential to cause crowds during the year-end holidays to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"The government is committed to banning all activities or celebrations that cause crowds of people ahead of the year-end holidays," said Lampung Provincial Secretary Fahrizal Darmintodi Bandarlampung as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 16.

This was done to prevent the spread of COVID-19 which resulted in a spike in COVID-19 cases at the end of the year.

"Tourism or entertainment venues are not closed, but rather strictly control it, to prevent transmission of cases during the year-end holidays," said Fahrizal.

According to him, tourist and entertainment venues are expected not to carry out activities or celebrations that will cause crowds.

"Entertainment and tourist attractions are expected to work together to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 by not carrying out celebratory activities and potentially causing crowds," he continued.

Fahrizal continued, to anticipate the spread of COVID-19, the local government will also implement the recommendations and rules listed in the health protocol guidebook (prokes) during the Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays.

"We follow the rules contained in the guidebook for implementing health protocols during the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays that have been given by the central government, this is done to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially towards the end of the year," he said.

It is known that Lampung Province in the last few days has experienced a decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases to an average of under 20 cases, so that the downward trend in COVID-19 cases will continue to be maintained by implementing strict health protocols.
