Allegations Of Corruption In Formula E Are Still Ongoing, KPK Asks The Public Not To Speculate

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that investigations into allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the Formula E car racing event in DKI Jakarta are still ongoing. This was conveyed to respond to the confusion of information in the community.

"We ensure that the KPK investigation into the implementation of Formula E is still in progress," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Sunday, November 14.

He said the investigative team is currently still exploring data and information related to the alleged corruption, including gathering the required information. Thus, Ali asked the public not to speculate anything and give the KPK time to focus on its work.

"We hope that the public will give the KPK the opportunity to focus on its work, and not give premature opinions or conclusions that would be counterproductive," he said.

Furthermore, Ali also emphasized that the handling of alleged corruption in anti-corruption institutions could not be slowed down or accelerated. All actions taken, he said, must be in accordance with the available evidence.

"All of them are based on the adequacy of evidence that makes the construction of a corruption crime case clear," said Ali.

"Therefore, we really need public support within the KPK to carry out its duties and functions according to the mechanisms and applicable laws," he added.

Previously reported, the KPK admitted that it was investigating and had examined several parties related to allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the Formula E racing event.

Most recently, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Syaefulloh Hidayat and the President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto visited the KPK Red and White Building on Tuesday, November 9.

They came to submit a 600-page document related to the plan to organize Formula E. This was intended to provide support for monitoring corruption prevention (MCP) efforts to the KPK leadership.

The document contains the approval process to the preparations needed by the KPK to obtain detailed and complete information in investigating allegations of corruption in the planned international event.
